Imperium Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plumbing and Firefighting Design Engineer to join our MEP team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing comprehensive plumbing and firefighting systems, primarily for residential building projects located within the UAE. This role is pivotal in the design phase of our MEP projects, requiring the creation of efficient, compliant, and sustainable plumbing and firefighting system designs. The Plumbing and Firefighting Design Engineer will ensure all designs adhere strictly to UAE local codes, international plumbing codes, and specific authority requirements, playing a key role in obtaining necessary approvals and delivering high-quality engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create initial plumbing design concepts and drawings for authority approvals, including water demand calculations, drainage calculations and single line drawings.
  • Develop detailed tender design drawings, specifications, and schedules for the tendering process.
  • Coordinate effectively with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, architectural, structural) for integrated project execution.
  • Participate in project team collaborations to understand project requirements, constraints, and objectives.
  • Develop comprehensive plans, specifications, schematics, and layouts for plumbing systems (including water supply, drainage, and sanitary systems) and firefighting systems (including sprinkler systems, standpipe systems, and fire pump sizing).
  • Perform detailed plumbing and firefighting system calculations, including water supply calculations, drainage calculations, hydraulic calculations for fire suppression systems, and pump sizing.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed plumbing and firefighting design documentation (drawings, schematics, riser diagrams, equipment schedules, technical reports).
  • Ensure all plumbing and firefighting designs comply with local UAE building codes, safety regulations, international plumbing codes (e.g., Uniform Plumbing Code - UPC, International Plumbing Code - IPC), NFPA standards, and other relevant industry standards.
  • Incorporate water-efficient technologies, sustainable design practices, and value engineering principles into plumbing and firefighting system designs.
  • Contribute to MEP coordination meetings and clash detection processes.
  • Stay updated with the latest plumbing and firefighting technologies, equipment, materials, and sustainable design practices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3–5 years working as a Plumbing and Firefighting Design Engineer, with experience in designing plumbing and firefighting systems for various types of building projects.
  • Demonstrable experience working on projects located within the United Arab Emirates or Gulf region is essential, as this ensures familiarity with the local construction landscape, climate conditions, and regulatory environment.
