Job Summary:

The Procurement Coordinator is responsible for supporting and coordinating the purchasing activities of materials, equipment, and subcontracted services required for construction projects. The role ensures all procurement processes comply with company standards, project timelines, and budget constraints while maintaining quality and supplier reliability. The position involves close coordination with engineering, planning, and site teams to secure the right materials at the right time and cost.

Job Description:

1. Procurement Coordination & Planning

  • Coordinate and execute procurement activities for construction materials, equipment, and services according to project needs and specifications.
  • Assist in preparing procurement schedules in alignment with project timelines.
  • Review and verify material requisitions received from project sites and technical departments.

2. Vendor Management

  • Identify and prequalify suppliers and subcontractors in line with company procurement policies.
  • Obtain and evaluate quotations, ensuring competitiveness and compliance with project requirements.
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure timely delivery and resolve supply issues.

3. Documentation & Compliance

  • Prepare and issue purchase orders and contracts after necessary approvals.
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, contractual terms, and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, supplier databases, and material delivery tracking logs.

4. Cost & Quality Control

  • Compare supplier offers and perform cost analysis to ensure best-value procurement decisions.
  • Monitor supplier performance and coordinate inspections to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Support the procurement engineer/manager in negotiating terms, prices, and delivery conditions.

5. Coordination & Communication

  • Liaise with project managers, site engineers, and logistics teams to ensure timely material availability.
  • Track and expedite pending deliveries and address discrepancies in quantity or quality.
  • Prepare periodic procurement status reports for management review.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration or Supply Chain Management.
  • 4–7 years of relevant procurement experience within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, specifications, and procurement procedures.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems (SAP / Oracle / similar).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality and compliance.
  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
