Underground Mine Manager

The Company

Globe 24-7, in partnership with a key client, is working together to source an experienced and qualified Under Ground Mine Manager for their site in Egypt.

The Responsibilities

To lead and manage underground mining operations by ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of production targets.

The role is responsible for directing operational and technical services teams, developing and implementing mine plans, and driving continuous improvement while maintaining compliance with safety, health, environmental, and quality standards.

• Directly control, manage and supervise the operational and technical services team.
• Prepare forecasts and develop mining strategy with assistance from the Mineral Resources department, planning and production engineering teams to deliver on mining cost, mine development, ore productions and key infrastructure upgrades to maximize the mine's contribution to the wider operation.
• Manage and direct the underground technical team to produce the plans and designs in line with the mining schedule to deliver monthly production that achieves the budgeted tons and ounces.
• Communicate with mine personnel on a regular basis, keeping them informed on the status, direction, and targets of the operation.
• Develop personnel directly reporting to this position through coaching, training, and regular appraisals.
• Demonstrate strong leadership through well-developed communication skills including managing for performance and the ability to communicate mining operations information to management and site visitors.
• Analyse and report on mining operational performance to identify any early interventions required to maintain performance.
• Drive continuous improvement projects to challenge the operational status quo and seek out improvements that will enable the planned growth of the mine.
• Ensure that short, medium, and long-term mine plans are implemented to optimize the life of mine and enable the business to meet its long- and short-term objectives in terms of production and cost within the Underground Mining Department

Requirements

• Degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
• Not less than 10 years' experience in underground mining operations, including leadership roles.
• Strong knowledge of mine planning, production scheduling, and cost management.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop teams.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities, with experience in coaching and mentoring staff.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with teams, management, and stakeholders.
• Strong reporting and presentation skills for operational performance analysis.
