Senior Structural Design Engineer

The Structural Design Engineer is responsible for:

The efficient and timely preparation of accurate, high-quality structural engineering design and technical drawings using CAD and Revit (BIM) software, for large scale, complex building and infrastructure design projects as directed by the Lead Structural Engineer.

Carrying out all structural analysis/modelling using ETABS, and designs in conformance with all required Saudi and international design codes, design standards and codes of practice as directed by the Lead Structural Engineer

Coordination with the drafting resources, and other resources required for completion of all drawings, specifications and bills of quantities

Strong working knowledge of all required structural engineering codes / standards, design and construction practices, and drawing practices for complex structural engineering design projects

Critical outcomes of this role include; production of accurate, timely and high-quality Revit (3D) and AutoCAD (2D) drawings for large scale, building and infrastructure complex projects, and coordination of these drawings with all other required design disciplines such as architectural, structural and structural engineering and quantity surveying.

The role requires building and maintaining professional relationships with internal stakeholders, other consultants, contractors, including coordinating with other Design Engineers, Lead Structural Engineer, Technical Director, and project managers to assist with submitting overall project deliverables for concept, schematic, and detailed design stage submissions in line with planned project timelines.

Job Duties

For specific allocated projects, in coordination with the Lead Structural Engineer, manage, plan and carry out;

Complex structural engineering analysis, design and drawings, specifications and bills of quantities using appropriate analysis and design and drafting software, to the required quality project timeline, and design budget,

Obtain all data and follow up with project managers, Lead Structural Engineer, other company staff, other consultants and contractors so that analysis, design and production of drawings, specifications and bills of quantities are completed in an accurate, timely manner, to the required quality,

Establish and build professional relationships with other staff, other Consultants, contractors.

Understand the project brief,

Assist Lead Structural Engineer, other Engineering Designers with the preparation and implementation of the Project structural engineering designs in coordination with the assigned project team,

Participate in and contribute to value engineering exercises,

Coordinate with internal disciplines and teams within ECEC and with 3rd parties in relation to technical, financial, safety, quality, schedule and other elements of a project, so that accurate structural designs and structural engineering drawings, specifications and bills of quantities are produced.

Specifically, the Structural Design Engineer is responsible for:

Implementing and updating specific and overall project structural engineering designs, drawings, specifications and bills of quantities for multiple complex design projects and construction projects.

Assist the Lead Structural Engineer on matters that cross between interfacing elements, projects.

Work proactively, constructively, and fairly with all parties to ensure the successful execution of duties,

Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as directed, and as may be appropriate.

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in structural engineering,

Registration with the recognized engineering institution (licensed to practice structural engineering design in Egypt),

Specific training & qualifications in structural engineering analysis and design including use of specific software, such as ETABS

Minimum 10 to 15 years of related work experience in a relevant engineering drafting background, and previous Middle East experience in design and drafting using Revit and AutoCAD,

Must have good experience on complex, large scale building projects is required.

Specific Skills Required

Good level of competence in use of Revit, AutoCAD and other drafting software - preferred,

Excellent working knowledge of internationally-accepted structural engineering, design industry principles and practices / safety / quality systems.

Excellent knowledge of current structural engineering technology.

Able to work with minimal supervision.

Excellent problem solving, numeracy and English literacy skills.

Clear verbal and written communication skills.

Uses diplomacy and tact in discussions with other parties.

Contributes to team building and enhancing morale across the team / project.
