Senior Machine Learning Engineer

The Machine Learning Engineer is responsible for integrating AI-driven technologies into the company's operations and processes. The position involves designing, developing, and deploying machine learning models to optimize processes, enhance product quality, improve efficiencies, and contribute to the company's sustainability goals. This role is critical to the organization's strategic initiative to adopt AI and drive innovation in sustainable food manufacturing.

Scope of Accountability

• Develop, deploy and maintain machine learning models to enhance automation and reduce manual intervention in critical processes.
• Drive continuous improvement through innovative AI solutions that enhance efficiency, quality, and market competitiveness.

Main Tasks

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Support the Artificial Intelligence Director in ensuring AI projects are strategically aligned with the company's business objectives.
• Develop and deploy sophisticated AI algorithms to monitor and optimize processes efficiency while reducing time/waste, and maximizing resource utilization.
• Develop and maintain AI systems that provide accurate, real-time analytics to inform and support strategic and operational decision-making.
• Design predictive models to effectively manage supply and demand patterns, minimizing losses and enhancing operational performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and gather relevant datasets from operations, supporting functions, and market sources.
• Perform data cleaning, transformation, and feature engineering to ensure high-quality inputs for model training.
• Monitor AI models for performance, fairness, and accuracy, addressing potential biases or anomalies to avoid operational risks.
• Drive continuous improvement efforts by creating and deploying cutting-edge AI solutions to boost operational efficiency, elevate product quality, and strengthen market competitiveness.
• Establish protocols for updating and maintaining AI systems to align with evolving business and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with different departments' teams to ensure smooth implementation of AI solutions.
• Train and mentor team members and stakeholders on leveraging AI tools and systems for maximum impact.
• Identify AI challenges by analyzing gaps or biases and address them with data refinement, algorithm optimization, and continuous monitoring.
• Stay informed on the latest advancements in machine learning and AI technologies relevant to the agri-food industry.
• Perform data cleaning, transformation, and feature engineering to ensure high-quality inputs for model training.

• Model Accuracy and Performance: Measure the precision and reliability of deployed machine learning models in predicting and optimizing production processes.
• Reduction in Operational Waste: Evaluate the impact of AI solutions in minimizing material and energy waste during production.
• Inventory Efficiency: Track the improvement in inventory management through predictive models, including reduced losses and optimized stock levels.
• Deployment Timeliness: Assess the ability to deliver and deploy AI solutions within defined project timelines to support operational goals.

Required Profile

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or related fields.

Experience

6+ years of experience in machine learning or AI roles, of which 2 in manufacturing or food industry setting.
