Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Conceptualization:
  • Lead the entire product design lifecycle for new furniture collections, from initial concept to final production.
  • Conduct in-depth market research and analysis on industry trends, competitor products, materials, and customer needs to inform and drive innovative design decisions.
  • Generate creative and practical designs through conceptual sketching, technical drawings, 3D modeling, and physical prototyping.
  • Advocate for and integrate sustainable design practices and materials into all new product development.
  • Technical & Production:
  • Create detailed design specifications, technical drawings, and documentation (e.g., cut lists, material specifications) for production teams and manufacturers.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, product development, and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are feasible, cost-effective, and align with production capabilities and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with external suppliers and vendors for material sourcing and production processes.
  • Conduct rigorous reviews of prototypes and finished products to ensure strict adherence to design specifications and quality.
  • Leadership & Collaboration:
  • Manage multiple complex design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery within budget and scope.
  • Present design concepts, vision, and technical rationale clearly and persuasively to leadership, cross-functional teams, and stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and constructive feedback to junior designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture within the design team.

Job Requirements

  • Education: University Degree in Applied Arts (Mandatory requirement), with a specialization in Furniture Design, Product Design, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in furniture design or industrial design with a strong emphasis on furniture products.
  • Portfolio: A strong, professional portfolio showcasing a range of successful, innovative furniture design projects from concept to market.
