own the technical direction
, 
lead engineers hands-on
, and 
turn product vision into reliable systems
.

Role Overview

As Tech Lead at Malaeb, you will be responsible for the 
technical architecture, code quality, and execution
 of our platform. You will work closely with the founders and product team to translate business and user needs into scalable technical solutions—while mentoring developers and setting engineering standards.

This is a 
hands-on leadership role
, not a purely managerial position.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

  • Own the 
    overall system architecture
     (backend, frontend, APIs, infrastructure)
  • Make informed decisions on 
    tech stack, tooling, and scalability
  • Ensure performance, security, and reliability as the platform grows
  • Lead technical design discussions and reviews

Hands-On Development

  • Write, review, and maintain production-grade code
  • Lead implementation of core features (booking flows, payments, availability, admin tools)
  • Ensure clean, maintainable, and well-tested codebases
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues

Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Lead and mentor developers through code reviews, pairing, and feedback
  • Set engineering best practices (CI/CD, testing, documentation)
  • Help scale the engineering team as Malaeb grows
  • Foster a strong engineering culture focused on ownership and accountability

Collaboration

  • Work closely with Product, Design, and Operations teams
  • Translate product requirements into technical solutions and estimates
  • Balance speed of delivery with long-term technical health

Job Requirements

Must-Have

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience
  • Previous experience as a 
    Tech Lead or Senior Engineer owning systems

Strong experience with:

  • Modern backend frameworks (e.g. , Django, Laravel, Ruby on Rails, etc.)
  • Frontend frameworks (React, Vue, or similar)
  • RESTful APIs and databases (SQL & NoSQL)
  • Experience designing and scaling production systems
  • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with marketplaces, booking systems, or payments
  • Startup or scale-up company experience
  • Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring
  • Mobile app experience (React Native / Flutter)
