Planning Engineer Job Description

We are searching for a well-organized self-starter with great attention to detail to join our team as the new planning engineer. Day-to-day responsibilities include drawing up work schedules and budgets, delegating tasks, analysing project specifications and finding cost-effective ways to meet them, liaising with contractors and suppliers, managing resources, and communicating with surveyors, managers, and other engineers. You should be able to analyse data, write reports, and deliver presentations to various stakeholders.

To be successful as a planning engineer, you should demonstrate a sound knowledge of the relevant Engineering discipline and be able to anticipate problems. Outstanding planning engineers should have great attention to detail and be able to handle stress well.

Planning Engineer Responsibilities:


•Understanding project specifications and developing time schedules and budgets that meet them.


•Observing existing processes, analysing staff performance, and addressing deficiencies accordingly.


• Coordinating with project managers and other team members to align project objectives and strategies


• Identifying and managing project risks and issues, proposing solutions when necessary


• Tracking and analysing project progress, adjusting schedules as required


•Monitoring and tracking project progress and writing up reports.


•Attending and scheduling meetings as required.


•Understanding and meeting all contract requirements.


•Communicating with managers, supervisors, and the rest of the team.


•Analysing technical drawings and specifications as pre industry practices.

  • Ensuring all projects are completed on time and within budgets.


• Ensuring all projects comply with safety regulations and quality standards


• Generating project reports for senior management and stakeholders


• Working closely with clients to understand project requirements and objectives


• Collaborating with contractors and suppliers for project related activities like Logistics, material delivery and shortfall as per design & BOQ


• Perform risk management to minimize project risks


• Monitor project progress and adjust as necessary to ensure successful completion


• Prepare and present reports detailing the project plan and progress


• Consult with clients, engineers, and project managers to ensure that project goals are met


• Support the project team with detailed, daily information about project schedules and budget


• Coordinate with procurement for timely delivery of necessary materials

Planning Engineer Requirements:


•Degree in Engineering or similar.


•Proficiency in MS Office.


•Planning and project management skills.


•Strong multitasking abilities.


•Strong analytical, critical, and logical thinking skills.


•A sound understanding of safety protocols.


•Ability to focus under pressure and meet deadlines.
