 About the Role

We are building a next-generation platform using
NestJS, React, and Flutter
, and we're looking for a
hands-on Tech Lead / Engineering Manager
to lead a cross-functional development team through our MVP and beyond.

You'll be both
a strong backend engineer
and
a technical leader
, guiding a team of 7–10 engineers (backend, frontend, mobile, QA) to deliver a production-ready product on schedule with high quality.

This is a
player-coach
position — you will code, review, design architecture, and mentor engineers while also managing delivery and agile processes.

 Key Responsibilities

 Engineering Leadership

  • Own the overall
    technical architecture
    and system design (NestJS monorepo, APIs, databases, caching, and background jobs).
  • Lead backend feature development for critical modules (Authentication, Marketplace, Catalog, Orders, Dispatch).
  • Review PRs, ensure adherence to
    best practices
    (Clean Architecture, SOLID principles, code quality, unit testing).
  • Maintain documentation and enforce proper versioning and contracts across API consumers (React, Flutter).

 Team Management

  • Lead a team of backend, frontend, mobile, and QA engineers (7–10 total).
  • Conduct sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives as
    Scrum Master
    .
  • Collaborate with the Product Owner to define priorities and roadmap.
  • Mentor developers, conduct technical interviews, and foster a high-performance culture.
  • Coordinate release cycles, QA handoffs, and CI/CD pipelines.

 Delivery & Operations

  • Oversee staging and production deployment pipelines (GitHub Actions, AWS/DigitalOcean).
  • Implement observability (logging, metrics, tracing) for reliability and scale.
  • Identify bottlenecks, propose optimizations, and ensure release stability.
  • Own technical risk management and make build-vs-buy decisions when needed.

 Required Skills & Experience

Core Technical

  • 5+ years of professional backend experience,
    3+ years with / TypeScript
    , and 2+ years in
    NestJS
    .
  • Deep understanding of
    API design
    ,
    database modeling
    (PostgreSQL/TypeORM or Prisma), and
    service architecture
    .
  • Strong experience with
    Redis
    ,
    BullMQ
    , and event-driven architecture.
  • Familiarity with
    CI/CD pipelines
    (GitHub Actions, Docker, AWS ECS/EB).
  • Excellent understanding of
    testing frameworks
    (Jest, Supertest) and
    swagger/OpenAPI
    documentation.
  • Working knowledge of
    frontend and mobile integration
    (React, Flutter) to guide the full stack team.

Leadership & Process

  • Proven track record of leading agile/scrum teams (5–10 members).
  • Strong code review discipline and mentoring ability.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to translate product goals into technical milestones.
  • Experience building scalable SaaS or marketplace applications is a plus.

 Bonus Skills

  • Experience with
    microservice or modular monolith architectures
    .
  • Familiarity with
    AWS (RDS, S3, CloudFront, Elastic Beanstalk)
    .
  • Knowledge of
    DevOps or QA automation practices
    .
  • Prior work in marketplaces, booking engines, or fintech products.

 Success Metrics

  • Code quality (test coverage, performance, maintainability).
  • Team velocity and sprint throughput improvements.
  • Developer satisfaction and retention.
  • System uptime and stability post-deployment.
