Position Summary:

The
Bodyshop Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor
is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the mechanical integrity, operational efficiency, and safety of all machinery within the Automotive Bodyshop (also known as the Body-in-White or BIW area). This section is where vehicle parts are stamped, assembled, and welded into the final body structure. The primary mission is to lead and coordinate the mechanical maintenance team to maximize
Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF)
, minimize line downtime, and ensure the consistent, high-quality production of vehicle bodies by maintaining the specialized welding and assembly automation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preventive Maintenance (PM):
    Develop and strictly execute mechanical PM schedules (daily, weekly, shutdown) for all Bodyshop equipment, ensuring all moving parts are lubricated, inspected, and adjusted according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Troubleshooting & Repair:
    Diagnose and repair mechanical faults for the equipment and Tools such as but not limited to clamps, fixtures and specialized transfer units that move body components Faults)) quickly and effectively to minimize line downtime.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    Ensure all mechanical repairs and activities comply with strict HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) regulations, particularly regarding Ergonomics, confined space entry, and working at heights.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to find sustainable solutions for recurring mechanical failures and suggest modifications to improve equipment reliability (MTBF - Mean Time Between Failures).
  • Data Analysis & Planning:
    Proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo) to analyze maintenance metrics (MTTR, MTBF, OEE), manage spare parts inventory, and optimize Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedules.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum
    3-5 years
    of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced ability to read and troubleshoot complex hydraulic/pneumatic schematics, manage high-pressure systems, and maintain proportional control valves. Ability to read complex schematics and troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic circuits, cylinders, proportional valves, and regulators.
  • Familiarity with the mechanics of various welding guns (servo-driven, pneumatic), resistance welders, and associated tooling/fixturing used in the Bodyshop.
