Overview

One of our key clients is seeking to add a Senior FTTx Network Design Engineer to their dream team in Egypt. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a leading company in connectivity infrastructure with a probable relocation to the UAE.

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for leading FTTx network design and planning for high-profile B2B customers. This role focuses on requirements capture, architecture, power budget, and AutoCAD based ODN designs. No implementation or project management responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Engage customers (B2B) to translate business/technical requirements into FTTx (PON/EPON) architectures.
  • Produce AutoCAD drawings (route layouts, ODN, splitter plans, splicing plans) and design documents (BoM/BoQ assumptions, loss budgets, design notes).
  • Optimize split ratios, reach, and redundancy, balancing cost vs. performance and future scalability (GPON, XGS-PON, NG-PON2 readiness).
  • Validate designs against TIA/EN/IEC/ITU-T standards; provide presales-grade design justification and respond to technical clarifications with customers.
  • Collaborate with solutions teams to ensure component selection aligns with standards, performance targets, and client specs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Telecom Engineering or similar is a must.
  • 7+ years experience in FTTx/PON design & planning for operators, large SIs, or manufacturers.
  • Hands-on AutoCAD (must) and solid Excel/Visio; GIS exposure (ArcGIS/QGIS) is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of GPON/XG(S)-PON/EPON, power & loss budgets, splitter planning, and common fiber types.
  • Familiarity with TIA-568.3-D, TIA-758-B, EN 50173/50174, IEC 60794/61754.
  • Clear, customer-facing communication in English.
