The purpose of this role is to build and optimize backend systems that power AI and high-performance computing applications. As a Junior Applied AI Engineer, you'll help design scalable APIs, distributed systems, and high-performance backend services that support AI models, real-time processing, and industry-specific solutions. You'll work closely with ML and HPC engineers to translate computational needs into efficient, reliable software, while ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure and AI pipelines. You'll participate in code reviews, system design discussions, and documentation efforts, all while growing your skills in backend architecture, generative AI frameworks, and performance engineering.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Design, develop, and optimize backend systems that support AI and HPC applications, ensuring low latency, high concurrency, and high throughput.
  • Implement scalable APIs and backend services to facilitate efficient integration with AI models, HPC workloads, and industry-specific applications.
  • Architect, develop, and maintain distributed systems that support AI and deep learning applications, ensuring robustness and performance.
  • Collaborate with ML engineers, HPC engineers, and domain experts to understand computational requirements and translate them into efficient backend solutions.
  • Optimize backend infrastructure for real-time and batch AI processing, leveraging best practices in software engineering and system design.
  • Work with frameworks supporting generative AI systems, implementing efficient software solutions tailored for AI-driven services.
  • Ensure backend solutions integrate seamlessly with existing compute infrastructure, AI pipelines, and HPC resources.
  • Engage in code reviews, system architecture discussions, and performance optimization efforts to improve software quality and maintainability.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, user guides, and status reports to support team members and stakeholders.
  • Available to travel as required for conferences, client engagements, or technical collaborations.

Education:

  • B.Eng. Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Related Discipline.

Experience:

No prior experience required.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in backend programming languages such as Python, Go, C++, or Java
  • Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks and their integration into production systems.
  • Knowledge in one or more of the backend frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, Django, NodeJs, etc…
  • Understanding of database systems (SQL, NoSQL, and distributed databases)
  • Knowledge in OOP design
  • Knowledge in one or more of the following is desirable:
  • Optimization
  • Hardware/Software Architecture
  • High Performance Computing
  • Data Science
  • Knowledge in one of the following areas is a plus:
  • Basic knowledge of cloud technologies
  • Basic knowledge of Containers
  • Basic knowledge of version control
  • Basic knowledge of CI/CD tools
  • Deep understanding of software design, programming techniques, and algorithms.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working in a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent Command in English written & verbal.
