Role Purpose
The Head of International Subsidiary Banking (ISB), Egypt has overall and prime responsibility for overseeing the relationship management of the Egypt inbound portfolio of subsidiary relationships and network subsidiary banking clients. The role holder is responsible for driving growth and revenues within ISB through implementation of the approved MENAT ISB, and Egypt CMB strategies and controlling costs, by driving and directing the Egypt ISB team and contributing to the wider CMB business as a whole.
**Principal Accountabilities**:
Impact on the Business/Function
- Lead the execution of the ISB strategy to drive revenue and PBT growth, and achieve FRP targets and key performance indicators, including profit before tax, revenues, expenses, asset balances, liability balances, and ROE while building a sustainable business model.
- Direct resources to achieve targets and long term growth in line with the business’ strategic plan through relationship building/customer contact plans/pipeline management for both existing and new customers, and deepen penetration of customer wallet.
- Ensure implementation of the ISB strategy across the business, which includes; growing the customer base, consistent use of data, engaging with professional service clients to co-create opportunities, resource appropriately for key and emerging corridors, and focusing on a franchise leading people environment.
- Deepen customer relationships through collaboration with Global Banking. MSS, GTRF, GLCM, WPB to maximise market share and customer wallet
- The role holder will also be expected to support the captaining of more complex transactions alongside the RMs within ISB, from a structuring and risk management perspective
- Contribute to effective utilisation of the country balance sheet through monitoring risk-weighted assets (RWA) and deployment of appropriate risk management tools to price appropriately for risk and to selectively acquire assets and monitor impairment charges and leading loss indicators in own area.
- Effectively manage direct and allocated indirect expenses based on the agreed budget.
Customers / Stakeholders
- Develop and deploy an effective acquisition and retention strategy to increase HSBC’s market share and gain larger share of wallet across assigned area.
- Ensure the team is effectively deployed and resourced to service the needs of international corporates, with a consistent sales, servicing and relationship management culture.
- Establish metrics and ensure effective tracking of HSBC’s competitor offerings, multinational structures and performance v HSBC.
- Develop appropriate area-level marketing campaigns/profile-building plans, aligned to that of GCMB/CMB which highlight core strengths where HSBC has “the right to win”, and importantly, key sectors, projects and themes in the local economy which offer opportunities to our global clients.
- Develop a strong understanding of customer need by focusing on customer experience to deliver targeted customer propositions built around core products and channels.
- Understand current economic trends and its impact on HSBC within assigned area/country and identify key levers to capitalise on opportunities or minimise downside exposure.
- Consistently review, assess and engage product and functional partners on resource, including GTRF, GLCM, GBM and WCOO, dedicated to ISB
- Proactively devise credit and sales policies to manage the credit approval process in order to expedite response to customers’ request.
Leadership & Teamwork
- Cascade and communicate the Egypt CMB and MENAT ISB strategies and operational goals.
- Lead, motivate and inspire the team to achieve this.
- Be ultimately responsible for the performance management of the team, using relevant performance management tools, ensuring timely action is taken to improve underperformance.
- Share knowledge, experience and best practices within and outside of immediate team.
- Promote a collective culture to spread experience & best practice.
- Take a hands-on approach to the use of Personal Development Plans, succession planning, gender and ethnicity inclusion, with appropriate follow up.
- Ensure development activities are a core priority and enable all team members to take reasonable time for learning and developmental activities.
- Ensure the team is resourced to headcount plan, sufficient to meet the demands and opportunities of the business, including appropriate retention strategies within cost plan
Operational Effectiveness & Control
- Acts on emerging opportunities building competitive advantage to the business in own area.
- Maintain and observe all HSBC control standards and implement and observe the Group Compliance Policy, including the timely implementation of recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators. Adhere to structures and processes in place for the management of credit, operational, reputation and regulatory risk.
- Foster a comp
