Social Behavior Change and Communications Advisor

**Project Summary**
***The USAID/Egypt Ending Violence Against Women and Girls Activity (EVAW/G) activity aims to improve prevention of and response to all forms of violence against women and girls.
**Position Summary**
The SBCC Advisor leads the development and implementation of a range of evidence-based and theory-driven social and behavior change approaches and strategies within the project. In this capacity, the SBCC Advisor creates and implements SBCC strategies and materials. The SBCC Advisor works in a collaborative manner with other members of the Activity’s senior management, technical, field, and other teams. In addition, the SBCC Advisor is responsible for advising on all technical aspects of SBCC and facilitating integration of SBCC related strategic thinking within the project.

**Strategic Leadership**
- Co-lead strategic planning and innovative program design, create a realistic and donor-responsive timeline, and continuously evaluate project progress towards achieving organizational strategic goals.
- Provide technical leadership to project staff and partners in support of project objectives.
- Collaborate with Pathfinder global support staff and all partners to ensure programming aligns with agency mission and vision and that project best practices and lessons learned are shared for agency-wide dissemination.
**Technical Leadership**
- Co-develop detailed technical design and strategy for delivering the SBCC component of the activity. Ensure that the SBCC Strategy described SBCC interventions that can be applied across the Activity and that are solidly grounded on behavioral theory, research, and audience insights and are developmentally appropriate for addressing the different needs of boys and girls, and men and women.
- Working with the Activity Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) team to design and implement strategies to monitor and evaluate the technical fidelity and effectiveness of SBCC interventions. Together, with MEL, ensure SBCC learning and knowledge sharing and dissemination.
- Support and develop the technical expertise and capacity of internal staff, local NGOs and CSOs, and government partners on SBCC; lead the establishment of partnerships in SBCC with the private sector and local government organizations.
- Lead efforts to stay abreast of, as well as influence, the latest global thinking on SBCC, shaping social norms, and preventing VAWG, capturing best practices that can be applied to the Egypt’s context interventions.
- Serve as an SBCC thought leader for preventing VAWG.
**Program Management**
- Lead the successful programmatic and technical implementation of the SBCC components of the project.
- Support the monitoring of project progress vis-a-vis expected objectives, utilizing tools and methods developed by Pathfinder, and ensuring effective usage of resources and compliance with donor requirements.
- Oversee subgrantees/subcontractors ensuring quality implementation of SBCC programming and achievement of agreed upon objectives and targets in accordance with established schedules and timelines.
- Document technical components of materials and project achievements for communications materials.
- Identify, select, manage performance of, and mentor project staff ensuring professional and capacity building; facilitate necessary international technical assistance to promote project goals and objectives.
- Support linkages and coordination with social development counterparts, other USAID-funded activities in Egypt, and other partners in the public and private sector.
**Required Education, Training and Experience**:
- An advanced degree in public health, communications, marketing, social sciences, anthropology, behavioral economics, or a related area.
- A minimum of 6 years senior-level experience in SBCC and integration in large internationally funded health programs.
- Strong understanding and experience of designing and implementing SBCC and norm shifting initiatives and programs including interpersonal, community-based, and mass-media approaches.
