USAID TRADE is seeking intermittent international Export Brokers, Facilitators, and Consultants (collectively “advisors”), based in target markets, to help Egyptian small and medium enterprises (SME) in positioning and selling their products in those target markets. The program is aimed at diversifying the export market portfolio of selected SME exporters and includes the following components:
Advisory support on market and buyer requirements in target markets.
Consultancy services from consultants in target markets to prepare selected SMEs to expand exports in those target markets.
Organize SME exporters’ participation in trade missions to target markets, B2B matchmaking with potential buyers on virtual marketing networks, including follow-on contract negotiation support with potential buyers from target markets.

Within the framework of USAID TRADE, the advisors will identify target sub sectors from USAID TRADE sectors (apparel, building materials, chemicals, engineering products, food, home têxtiles, and printing and packaging), advise beneficiary SMEs on following up on market opportunities, identify B2B events, search for potential buyers, and undertake B2B matchmaking. The Advisors will work with the USAID TRADE team to implement the activities in the target markets.

Objective

The objective of this consultancy is to recruit advisors based in target markets to provide market intelligence, brokerage, and/or advisory services, including supporting trade missions and B2B linkages, to the selected Egyptian SMEs to enter or expand in the target markets.

Tasks

The Advisors, based in target markets (see attached), will primarily be responsible for advising/coaching, B2B matching and pre-contracting negotiations of the beneficiary SMEs (exporters) in their attempts to enter/expand in one or more target markets per the attached matrix. This role includes the following tasks:
Collect market information in target markets that is relevant to SME partners on a continuous basis.

Implement TRADE activities including but not limited to the following tasks:
In coordination with the TRADE team and partner Export Councils, develop market profiles on a regular basis (frequency to be agreed) for specific products of interest (see attached matrix), including competing products, prices, distribution channels, quality and standards, certifications required, etc.
Become acquainted with TRADE’s partner SMEs in the target sectors/products and their capabilities, through in-person visit to those partners in Egypt to assess the their export supply capacity and capability and advise them in taking measures to successfully export/expand in target markets.
Based on market profiles and partner SMEs, advise SMEs on market entry strategy and necessary adjustments needed to gain market access or market share in target markets.
Formulate scopes of work for engaging other trade experts from the above target markets to advise firms on market access requirements as may be necessary.
Reach out to potential buyers on virtual marketing networks to promote beneficiary SMEs’ products to the target markets.
Arrange online and offline B2B meetings during fairs and trade missions to target markets.
Support SMEs during the follow-up negotiations and discussion.
Develop case studies and/or recommendations for the exporters to improve their export promotion approaches and tools.

Deliverables

Market intelligence reports (frequency and format to be agreed).
Specific market studies for specific Egyptian SMEs (format to be agreed depending on request).
Specific advisory services for SMEs to help them access new markets or expand exports in existing ones
Support trade missions, exhibitions, and B2B meetings as needed
Case studies as needed

**Qualifications**:
Consultants must demonstrate a track record of successfully assisting brokering export deals for companies in Egypt in the project’s selected sectors.
Consultants must meet Palladium’s Due Diligence and Code of Conduct standards.
