We’re looking for a strong data engineer who can help lead our organization to get up and running on our new data infrastructure stack, which includes Snowflake, dbt and Looker. Most of our data resides in Oracle Cloud (OCI). We are eager to find someone who is passionate about building great technology to solve problems for our customers.
**Responsibilities**
- Stand up the new data stack (dbt, Snowflake) for the company.
- Ensure proper testing and monitoring is in place to provide trusted and reliable data from the new data stack.
- Build out necessary data warehousing infrastructure in Snowflake.
- Execute full software development life cycle (SDLC), including CI/CD automation across all environments (dev, test, prod, etc.)
- Work with Product Management team to ensure data/software requirements are met.
- Work with Program Management team to plan releases, ensure all work items are kept up-to-date and all time is captured for Accounting.
- Work with Data Analysts and Data Scientists to provide data for analysis and modeling.
- Work with BI Developers to provide data for dashboards and reports.
- Work with SQA team to support testing as needed.
- Develop flowcharts, layouts and documentation to identify requirements and solutions.
- Write well-designed, testable code.
- Produce specifications and determine operational feasibility.
- Integrate software components into a fully functional software system.
- Develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures.
- Document and maintain software functionality.
- Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems.
- Deploy programs and evaluate user feedback.
- Comply with project plans and industry standards.
- Ensure software is updated with latest features

**Qualifications**
- BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field.
- 5+ years working as an individual technical contributor.
- 3+ years' experience with databases and data modeling.
- Excellent knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
- Experience with any data loading tool (e.g. Fivetran, Matillion, etc.)
- Experience with any data transformation tool (e.g. dbt, etc.).
- Experience with any source control system (e.g. Git, etc.).
- Experience designing data pipelines and ETLs.
- Experience with test-driven development.
- Ability to document requirements and specifications.
- Systems: Aptitude for seeing the role of a small piece of software in a larger system.
- Outstanding Object Orientated design and programming skills.
- Experience with large codebases and some architectural experience.
- Great in written and verbal communication skills; English proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking.
- Strong work ethic.
- Strong in multi-tasking activities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to write clean code requiring mínimal rework.
- Can not only code independently, but also design significant chunks of code, deliver significant team-level projects, and guide more junior developers.
- Takes full ownership of their design and the projects that they are involved in. Constantly seeks ways of improving the efficiency of their work. Proves ability to clearly communicate to their clients and project teams.
- Writes testable, scalable and efficient code and leading code review; Inspect and test code from junior-level engineers.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with data warehouses and dimensional data modeling
- Experience with shaping data for use in BI tools (Looker), analytical & machine learning tools (R, Python) and for data export (blinded datasets)
- Experience with loading data using Fivetran or Matillion
- Experience transforming data with dbt
- Experience with building data pipelines using Gitlab or other CI/CD tools
- Experience with operating data pipelines in a production environment (DataOps), including operational dashboards & reporting
- Experience with Snowflake, including data modeling, data architecture and performance tuning
- Experience with Oracle, especially Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
