Doctors Gateway is recruiting Specialist Doctors in Microbiology to relocate to the United Kingdom (UK) and join our Specialist Programme. This tailored, two-year, full-time programme is designed to support your journey towards becoming a Specialist or Consultant within the NHS.
Through structured support, you will work towards completing the Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as the Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration - CESR) in collaboration with the Royal Colleges. **About the position**
The Microbiology medical workforce provides advice to many disciplines of health care workers regarding the diagnosis and management of infections and infection prevention and control advice. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Sharing oversight of the processing of specimens in the Health Services Laboratories (HSL), as well as provide reporting and clinical advice with other colleagues
- Providing advice regarding diagnostic tests, antibiotic usage, interpretation of results, general patient management to GPs - usually telephone advice on individual patients
- Validating of and interpreting of laboratory test results
- Liaising and develop a close working relationship with clinicians and other staff at the hospital, encourage safe and optimal management of infection, while supporting antimicrobial stewardship practice and infection prevention and control at the different sites
**About you**
To be considered for this role, you will need to:
- Hold a medical degree in microbiology or equivalent
- Have a Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath) or equivalent
- Have completed the Higher Specialist Scientist Training (HSST) course
- Have General Medical Council (GMC) registration and a valid licence to practise
- Demonstrate specialised training or significant experience in microbiology

Pay: E£3,744,470.72 - E£4,648,308.48 per year
