**Trade Support Specialist**

**Project Overview and Role**:
USAID’s Trade Reform and Development in Egypt (TRADE) project builds on decades of U.S. investments in Egyptian businesses and economic policy with the aim of substantially increasing Egyptian exports from Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The TRADE project focuses on seven selected sectors: engineering products, food processing, home têxtiles, ready-made garments, chemicals, printing and packaging, and building materials. Through the project, USAID works with the Government of Egypt to improve the trade and investment policy environment and reduce barriers to trade. USAID also partners with business associations and export councils to strengthen the trade services ecosystem for small
- and medium-sized exporters, as well as with private companies to help them access new international markets to increase export sales. TRADE tackles many trade and investment-related issues to sustainably increase Egyptian exports and drive economic growth.

***Primary Duties and Responsibilities**:
**OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Result 2's scope of work revolves around building the institutional capacity of carefully selected Trade Support Institutions and developing their portfolio of services to clients. The Result work also encompasses creating new initiatives responding to trade services ecosystem gaps.
Reporting to the Trade Services Manager, the Trade Support Specialist will assist R2 with the service development work related to stakeholders (Trade Support Institutions): From developing action plans for capacity-building initiatives to conducting regular progress assessments and supporting TSIs in enhancing service delivery processes, this position will significantly contribute to the project’s success in enhancing the trade services ecosystem.

**TASKS**:

- ** **Manage and oversee the accounts of assigned partner Trade Support Institutions (TSIs) within the TRADE project framework activities.
- Collaborate with TSIs to identify ongoing and sustainable improvement areas and develop tailored capacity-building interventions.
- Create and implement action plans of capacity-building interventions designed for assigned stakeholders.
- Develop and monitor the TORs to recruit short-term technical assistants and service providers necessary to implement the action plans with project partners.
- Conduct regular assessments of the development progress of trade support services provided by partner TSIs.
- Assist in designing and implementing capacity-building programs and workshops to enhance the capabilities of TSIs in providing trade support services.
- Help the project monitor and evaluate the progress and impact of capacity-building initiatives on the performance of TSIs and ensure that MEL requirements and follow-ups are met and considered in activities implementation.
- Support TSIs in improving their service delivery processes and efficiency through sharing learnings and best practices.
- Foster strong relationships and effective communication with TSIs to ensure alignment with project objectives and priorities.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to integrate TSIs' needs and priorities into project planning and implementation.
- Generate and maintain detailed reports and documentation on the activities, progress, and outcomes related to partner TSIs.
- Assist in promoting knowledge sharing and best practices among TSIs to drive continuous improvement in trade support services.
- Help edit technical reports to ensure delivery of better and timely quality outputs.
- Liaise with other teams within TRADE to ensure effective delivery of assignments and proper information flow.

**Required Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, International Development, Economics, or a related field.
- 5-7 Years of relevant work experience.
- Strong understanding of trade support services and experience working with Trade Support Institutions (TSIs) and Business Support Organizations (BSOs).
- Knowledge of capacity-building strategies and demonstrated ability to create and implement tailored action plans and interventions.
- Solid knowledge of international trade statistics and ability to generate and edit technical reports.
- Familiarity with recruiting and managing short-term technical assistants and service providers for project-related activities.
- Experience designing and implementing capacity-building programs and workshops for organizational development is an asset.
- Familiarity with monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) requirements and practices in project implementation is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Exceptional analytical skills and strong organizational abilities.
- Collaborative mindset and capability to liaise with various project teams.
