Key Roles and Responsibilities:

- Maintain high standards of teaching in line with the DfE teaching standards,
- Ensuring the secondary school curriculum is appropriately mapped and maintained and shared with appropriate stakeholders,
- Managing daily cover arrangements and communicating staff attendance with the HR department,
- Liaise with the Head of Secondary regarding the secondary school timetable and be responsible for its ultimate creation,
- Be responsible for the student options processes at key transition points,
- Assigning staff duties, and overviewing attendance of duties,
- Organising internal examination arrangements,
- Supporting the Examinations Officer in organizing external examinations,
- Overview the academic data management, including organization and sharing of CEM Durham,
- Leading continued development of targeting setting and tracking of students,
- Monitor and develop Marking and Feedback policies and procedures,
- Ensure departments are maintaining Long Term Plans, LTP’s, each year
- Monitor consistency and regularity of marking and feedback of student work including standard of homework,
- To do termly analysis of attainment data and progress and follow up with any actions needed to ensure the success of each student,
- Communicate information regarding curriculum matters with parents when necessary,
- Liaise with the primary school to improve transition of curricula into Year 7.

Personal Specification:

- Driven and dynamic with a desired Leadership qualification
- Experienced in running internal and external examinations within a school setting
- Able to build positive relationships with middle leaders and teachers inspiring them to deliver a high quality educational experience
- Comfortable presenting to parents in both individual and group settings
- Able to manage their time effectively and prioritise their task appropriately
- Approachable and open to staff and student queries
- Calm under pressure and able to deal with situations that arise
- Analytical and system orientated with an understanding of MIS’s and Timetabling
