**Attention to detail**: developer takes pride in their code and checks to be sure it meets the requirements before passing the code on to QA.

**Comfortable saying no**: If they don’t think what they are asked to do can be done in the specified time frame, the developer must be able to say so. They must also be able to push back if they think there is a better approach to meet the customers’ needs than what is in the spec.
