**Specific Responsibilities**:

- The Operations Geologist Sr, for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Operations Geology team at the company’s office in Cairo and will report both to the asset and to the Operations Geology Sr Manager based in Houston Texas.
Primary Responsibilities:

- Work closely with both office based teams (Subsurface & Drilling) within the JV, and the rig site teams focusing on safe and efficient well delivery.
- Be responsible for proactively identifying operational hazards including, but not limited to, shallow water and gas flows, potential high-pressure zones, depleted and loss zones with possible stress caging, faults, geomechanical hazards.
- Evaluate likelihood / impact of such hazards and collaborate closely on mitigations.
- Be responsible for coordinating and implementing Wellbore Stability & Geomechanics studies within the asset, leveraging SME support where necessary. This will include different well types in different regions including wildcat exploration, production wells in mature areas, water flood for re-pressurization, vertical and deviated wells.
- Provide real-time support and council to the operations team if unforeseen events occur.
- Capture hazards, drive root cause analysis and implement lessons learned to avoid reoccurrence to drive operational efficiency.
- Identify other areas to improve operational efficiency.
- Drive technological innovation such as AI and machine learning focusing on hazards avoidance.
- Train and mentor colleagues.

Critical Technical Competencies:

- Extensive Egyptian operational E&P experience including the Western Dessert and Gulf of Suez, and the behavior of different geologic target horizons within these regions.
- Extensive experience in geomechanics and wellbore stability including predrill prediction, real-time monitoring, prevention and mitigation of related hazards.
- Be highly familiar with other subsurface hazards identification and mitigation including shallow hazards.
- Pore Pressure prediction & monitoring.
- Have intimate knowledge of all methods of subsurface data acquisition across different disciplines including Mudlogging, LWD/MDW, Wireline, Coring & Well Testing (including vendor specific tools).
- Experience in Petrophysical Log interpretation.
- Experience in managing 3rd party contracts & performance.
- Be available to work unsociable hours if operations dictate.

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- MSc. in a petroleum geology discipline.
- At least 10 years of experience, including technical assignments.
- Excellent spoken and written English.

- Preferred Additional Technical Competencies:

- Have a high-level technical understanding across a broad spectrum of Oil & Gas functions including Geology, Drilling, Petrophysics, Geophysics, Reservoir Engineering & Geochemistry, and act as a focal point between these disciplines.
- Have experience across other diverse areas of the industry e.g. exploration, appraisal, development, conventional oil plays, conventional gas plays, offshore, deepwater, clastics & carbonate reservoirs in varied geographical basins.
- Operational experience in challenging drilling environments such as frontier or remote locations or extreme operating limits like High Temperature / High pressure.
- Have knowledge of drilling & geological analytics tools to monitor and proactively avoid potential drilling hazards and lost time incidents.
- Have a working knowledge or experience in geosteering techniques and best practices for long reach or horizontal wells.
- Be familiar with Seismic interpretation techniques.
- Be proficient using technical software such as Petrel, Rokdoc and Interactive Petrophysics.
