The Head of Mathematics is a senior leadership role within the academic team of an international school. This position involves overseeing the planning, implementation, and development of the mathematics curriculum across all levels of the school, from primary to secondary education. The Head of Mathematics will ensure the highest standards of teaching and learning in the mathematics department, and foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging environment for both students and staff.

Curriculum Leadership and Development**:

- Lead the design and review of a comprehensive mathematics curriculum aligned with international standards and the school's philosophy.
- Ensure that the mathematics curriculum is challenging, relevant, and meets the diverse needs of students.
- Foster a curriculum that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning.
- ** Teaching and Learning**:

- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching strategies and methods used within the mathematics department.
- Support teachers in developing innovative and engaging instructional practices.
- Lead and encourage professional development opportunities for mathematics teachers, ensuring alignment with current best practices in education.
- Set and monitor expectations for student performance across all grade levels.
- ** Leadership and Management**:

- Lead, manage, and support a team of mathematics teachers, providing guidance and mentorship.
- Establish departmental goals and objectives in line with the school’s overall educational mission.
- Collaborate with other department heads to ensure a holistic approach to education and interdepartmental synergy.
- Ensure the effective allocation of resources for the mathematics department.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- A degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Teaching qualification, such as a PGCE, QTS, or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of experience in teaching mathematics, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of international curricula (e.g., IGCSE, IB, AP) and international school settings.
- Proven track record of leading educational teams and driving improvement in teaching and learning.
- Experience in using data to inform instruction and make evidence-based decisions.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate both students and staff.
- Fluency in English (additional languages may be an advantage).
