All CGIAR Centers are currently involved in a transformation process called 'One CGIAR,' aimed at enhancing the impact of ICARDA and CGIAR through more cohesive research, streamlined governance, an unified structure, and innovative research approaches. This evolution is backed by CGIAR sponsors who have pledged increased funding to support these changes.

Main responsibilities:

Software Development:


  • Responsible for software analysis, development, and deployment throughout the lifecycle using agile and DevOps methodologies.
  • Build full stack tools that assist enterprise applications (e.g., middleware and APIs).
  • Conduct software testing and manage source control.
  • Oversee, handle, and query databases including DML, DDL, and SQL.
Enterprise Applications:
  • Support Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Enterprise Document Management System (EDMS), and other corporate systems.
  • Address business needs (Finance, HR, Procurement, Project Management, etc.) by creating reports and alerts using SQL scripts and routines and ERP setups.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations and policies related to data management, including those concerning security, audit, and privacy.
  • Collaborate with the ICT team to assist users in identifying and resolving hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Offer guidance, supervision, and assistance for ICARDA research projects that possess a digital aspect.
  • Provide first and second level support for all users of applications.
  • Cooperate, communicate, and aid the OneCGIAR Digital and Data team.
  • Support in documenting business processes, procedures, standards, and guidelines.
  • Engage with vendors for 3rd level support.
Requirements:

Education, qualifications, and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in computing, Informatics, or related field.
  • Over 5 years of experience, preferably in .Net framework with API, SAML, and O365 integration, including minimum 2 years in SQL query development and optimization, PowerBI or similar BI Tools, source control (e.g., GIT), Apache, IIS, DNS, and CDN tools.
  • More than 2 years of experience in remotely supporting international end users across different organizational levels, primarily within a MS Windows environment.
  • Experience in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Enterprise Document Management (EDM), and DevOps is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cybersecurity principles, software fortification, and defenses against common web threats.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential.
  • Understanding of financial processes, procurement, HR, and project management.
  • Knowledge in data warehouse development and related ETL concepts.
  • Experience with big data, blockchain, and other emerging technologies.
  • Strong understanding of agile project lifecycle and affiliated topics.
  • Certifications in .Net, MSSQL, PowerBI, or relevant fields are a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the capability to engage with diverse internal and external parties in a culturally, linguistically, and diplomatically appropriate manner.
