Fleet Supervisor

The fleet operations supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and utilization of the company's vehicle fleet. This includes managing driver schedules, dispatching vehicles, and monitoring fleet productivity to ensure maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The supervisor works closely with drivers and maintenance staff to optimize the performance and utilization of all fleet assets.

Key Responsibilities: -

1. Develop and implement policies and procedures to maximize the utilization of drivers and vehicles within the fleet.
2. Schedule and dispatch vehicles and drivers in a way that meets the company's transportation needs while minimizing downtime and idle time.
3. Monitor real-time vehicle and driver data (e.g. location, route, hours of service) to identify opportunities to improve asset utilization.
4. Analyze historical fleet data to forecast future transportation requirements and optimize staffing and vehicle allocations.
5. Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure vehicles are serviced and available when needed, minimizing disruptions to transportation schedules.
6. Provide drivers with clear instructions and support to complete their routes and tasks efficiently.
7. Monitor driver performance and provide coaching to improve productivity and safety.
8. Investigate any incidents or inefficiencies in the fleet and implement corrective actions.
9. Prepare detailed reports on fleet utilization, productivity metrics, and cost-saving initiatives.
10. Make recommendations to management on ways to enhance fleet operations and reduce overall transportation expenses

Qualifications: -

- 5+ years of experience in fleet management or transportation operations
- Expert knowledge of vehicle maintenance, repair, and safety requirements
- Proficient in using fleet management software, GPS tracking, and data analysis tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address utilization issues
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to motivate and coordinate drivers and staff
- Working knowledge of relevant transportation laws, regulations, and best practices
- Bachelor's degree in transportation, logistics, or a related field
