We seek a dynamic and innovative professional with a passion for teaching Mathematics and a real commitment to a holistic education at the British International School, Cairo.
Applications are invited from qualified Mathematics teachers, with previous experience of teaching within the National Curriculum for England or a British-style setting. Experience in teaching IB Higher Level Maths is preferable. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Mathematics across the Senior School including GCSE and IB. The school has excellent facilities and resources for teaching Mathematics. The Mathematics Department works effectively as a team sharing ideas and promoting learning. It is a very popular department, and our students value and love the subject. We offer an accelerated Maths route for the more able and a variety of courses within the IB diploma programme.

Person Specification
graduate in Mathematics or a related subject with Qualified Teacher Status and a MINIMUM of three years teaching experience post-QTS; enthusiastic and innovative teacher with a genuine passion for teaching, who can motivate and inspire students using a variety of strategies; recent experience teaching Mathematics within the National Curriculum for England and (I)GCSE, A level or IB; experience in teaching IB Maths HL is desirable;includes assessment for learning as an integral part of classroom practice; understands how to stretch more able students and support pupils; works collaboratively as a member of a team; committed to her/his own professional development; enjoys the opportunity to participate in co-curricular activities; meets the school’s safeguarding requirements in full.To comply with Egyptian employment law, applicants must have QTS and a MINIMUM of three years teaching post qualification teaching experience.
Remuneration
The British International School, Cairo (BISC) operates a higher teaching scale to schools in the UK which increases with teaching experience. All salaries are tax free and paid in Pounds Sterling. The current basic salary (2023-2024) for a teacher with three years’ experience is £36,000 p.a. while the salary of the majority of staff (six years experience or more) is over £41,500 p.a.
In addition all overseas contract teachers benefit from a generous housing allowance, private BUPA Gold medical insurance, annual return flights to the UK, and 2 free places for children of school age.
