Amideast/Egypt offers educational development programs and operates across Egypt with offices in Cairo and Alexandria. In 2016 Amideast leased and then acquired the current location at 3 Pharanaa street in 2020. The location is a heritage site that dates to the early 20th century when the original structure was built circa 1910. Amideast's decision to acquire the property has revived the property' as an educational and cultural hub focused on the exchange and collaboration between the US and Egypt.
The position of the Facility Management Engineer (FME) is critical to maintaining the property and ensuring its upkeep for the continued provision of Amideast services in Alexandria. The FME will apply engineering principles and techniques to maintain and optimize the facility. S/he work includes ensuring proper installations, renovations, and maintenance of the facility, maintain the upkeep of the property and the HVAC system with minimal operational disruption, lead facility improvement projects, and develop a robust facility maintenance plan in accordance with organizational objectives. H/She is also required to ensure compliance with workplace safety, health, and other regulatory requirements in his/her line of work as may be needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operational Responsibilities Develop and adhere to an annual operational maintenance plan for the facilityPlan and track all maintenance work and conduct technical presentations to managementMaintain quality assurance system related to facility maintenanceInstill good maintenance practices and create mechanism that ensure a safety culturePlan and coordinate infrastructure and equipment maintenance schedules and activitiesMonitor facility performance data to establish good control parametersEnsure proper facility installations/renovations are being carried out on-siteImplement solutions and monitor process capabilityEnsure service contracts are integrated into the maintenance schedules and supervise their operation in accordance with business needsInvestigate root causes of facility failures and lead continuous improvement projectsCoordinate and oversee contractors performing maintenance activitiesReporting and Budgetary Responsibilities Prepare and submit reports and compliance documentation on monthly basis as outlined in the operational planRegularly coordinate activities with Regional Manager regarding the following areas Assets, Facilities, Risk ManagementAdopt new technologies to improve facility system in most efficient and cost-effective mannerAnalyze project costs and develop reflective budgets to be submitted for approval to managementNegotiate of facility-related service contracts and conduct annual evaluations prior to renewalQUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Required Bachelor's degree in civil, architectural, or industrial engineeringAt least 3 years of experience as facilities engineer or in a similar roleStrong technical background and knowledge of other trades works such as electrical, HVAC, MEP and civil worksExperience with AutoCAD, SAP, and MS OfficeKnowledge of the building process and construction principlesKnowledge of relevant regulations and building codesGood verbal and written communication skillsTroubleshooting and problem-solving skillsProject management skillsPreferred Minimum TOIEC score of 850 or equivalentWORK ENVIRONMENT:
The incumbent in this position will work in a professional office environment and will utilize the following equipment when working from the corporate office or remote home office (temporarily due to COVID-19). Computer (laptop or desktop)Printer/Photocopier/Scanner/FaxTelephoneOther (Specify if any) Up to 5% business travel may be needed to support as needed.
